There is an annual event that the Barber Prosthetics team takes very seriously. Every November for the past three years, we break out our bowling shoes! That’s right, the Barber team goes bowling to fundraise towards Men’s Health every Thursday night in November. Rain or shine, our laces were tied and we hit the lanes!
A cause very close to our hearts, inspired by patients, family and friends has allowed the Barber team to raise over $4,000—thanks to many donations and participants. Those who arrived to take part in the bowling understood the one rule that mattered in the game: if you get a gutter ball, you pay a quarter, no ifs, ands or buts. Oh and don’t forget, the last game of the night, you must play with your opposite hand. Game on!
Every bowler had a ball! Those that joined the Barber team consisted of family and friends, several BCIT students, the Holy Family Physio Crew, and, of course, patients! In total, we had 29 bowlers join in for the cause and we couldn’t be more grateful. Everyone left smiling and we’ve got the photos to prove it. Not only did our local family and friends donate, but also we had contributions from as far as Florida supporting the "Prosthetic Mos"! Our goal for next year is to raise $4,000 so come one, come all! There is always room for more to join.
